Terrorism/Bin Laden
If you didn't catch the morning news today, here's the latest. Another threat letter from Bin Laden's second in command. He said that there will be more attacts against any and all countries that are helping the United States in the war. Of course the United States is the primary target. He also said that the Vietnam War was childs play compared to what they're planning to do to us. I believe that the only reason Bush Jr. attacked Hussein, was not because of weapons of mass destruction, but for retaliation for the death threat he put out on his father, Bush Sr. I heard that in the first war, there was a special forces sniper that had Hussein in his sight but he was told to stand down at the last second. Go figure.

War on Terror
When I speak with students who are from the middle east and they talk about how terrible it was for them there and how thankful they are that the U.S. is there trying to help, I think maybe we should be there. But then when I hear this kind of stuff, I think we need to bring our people home. I know as a country we have vowed to help the oppressed, but I think that a mass of American believe we are there to protect our country from terroistic acts, and I believe that is totally wrong. In fact, I don't believe we are only over there to aid the oppressed. I do believe it is a diversion tactic by Bush and other officials. Have you watched Farenheit 911? I think that it makes some very good and important points, but then I also feel that it exaggerated some things as well. What do you think?August 11 2005, 17:37:08 UTC 6 years ago
Terrorism/Bin Laden
As far as the war being compared to the Viet-nam war some people say it's not the same, I think they are nuts. If you ever really paid any attention to the Viet-nam war, the way it was all run by the idiots in Washington who weren't there fighting, it's the same thing going on all over again. In Viet-nam they wouldn't let our troops chase the Viet-cong into Cambodia, just like they give the insurgents a safe haven if they are firing on our troops from a mosque, they won't let them level it. I watched the first episode of OVER THERE and that exact same thing happened, the insurgents were firing at them from a mosque and all they could do was surround it and shoot at them if they were outside it. If I was one of those soldiers with a grenede launcher or one of the guys behind the .50 caliber machine gun I would have tore that place up. I've been in the army and have fired a .50 cal machine gun and I know it has enough firepower to have leveled that place on its own. And if they would have court-martialed me for it I would have said go for it, I would rather be a live person in jail for doing what the military trained me to do (except for not following orders to stand down) than another dead soldier on a list, there is no safe haven for your enemy when he is firing at you. If you are in a combat situation like that there is only one rule that I was taught in the army; let the other guy die for his cause and you survive to get to go home (hopefully) in one piece!August 12 2005, 14:11:39 UTC 6 years ago
